| Mountain Trekking to "El Altar" or Capac Urcu | | | Day 1 |  | Departing from Quito we drive through Latacunga, Salcedo, Ambato and Riobamba. The Altar is located at the eastern range, toward the east of the city of Riobamba, from where it can be seen like a wide crown with diamonds that shine brightly. It is the most beautiful and grandiose mountain in all of Ecuador. Departure from the picturesque hacienda Releche towards the Valley of Collanes, (about 4-5 hours) our equipment is transported by mountain-horses. In the early afternoon we will reach the highlands where the opening of the valley is located. Camp at Collanes. | | |  | | Day 2 |  | Ascension to the caldron, old crater of the Altar, located at 4.500 mts, Condor is often seen soaring amidst the vertical walls. A superb view above the glacial valley of Collanes and the rocky peaks of the northern part of the Altar, the hanging glaciers, the “Paramo” area and the spectacular Yellow Lake. Return to the camp. | | |  | | Day 3 |  | | Departing early morning to the Hacienda Releche (about 3 hours) Riobamba and Quito | | | |  | | Chimborazo Wildlife Reserve - Riobamba |  | This reserve has a surface of 58.560 hectares; one of the best attractive of this reserve is The Chimborazo with an altitude of 6.310 m.a.s.l the highest and largest mountain in Ecuador. This reserve offers beautiful Andean landscapes; its vegetation life is formed by romerillo, chuquiragua, sigses and many others. Here you have the opportunity to enjoy walking in the surroundings of this magic place. From this reserve is possible to arrive and visit at the colonial city of Riobamba, La Balbanera Church and Colta Lake. Mountain Climbing and Trekking programs, for Cotopaxi, Chimborazo, (6310 m) Sangay (5.230 m) and Cayambe (5.790 m) can be also arranged. | | |
